2011 Advantage Boats 27 X-Flight

Since their introduction, the X-Flights have become the best-selling models in the Advantage model line. “That’s a pretty incredible achievement when you think about it,” commented Scott Dreisbach, Vice President/COO for Advantage. “Usually it takes the market at least a season to recognize and really become interested in a new model. And because the X-Flight is so unique we thought the process might take even longer, but it didn’t.” Seldom does a new hull concept come along that is destined to so profoundly change the landscape of family performance boats. But that is exactly what Advantage’s XFlights have done, first with the 29-foot model and now with the new 27. They’re roomy like a deckboat yet run with the abandon of a pure bred performance machine. Although from the waterline they may appear to have an air-entrapment-like hull, they do not. The forward portion of the hull is aerodynamically configured to create lift. That lift makes the hull react and perform like it weighs less thus improving efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and delivering higher top speed. Yet, because it is still a vee-bottom, the boat rides soft, turns responsively and handles rough water like a dream delivering exceptional handling, stability and load-carrying capabilities. “We heard from some potential buyers that they would prefer a slightly smaller version of the X-Flight if it were available,” said Dreisbach, explaining the motivation behind the development of the new 27. “We turned those requests over to our R&D department and put them to work on the project. It didn’t take long for them to come up with a plan to build a 27 X-Flight model. It’s virtually the same boat as the 29 except a two-foot section of the storage and cuddy cabin bulkhead in front of the driver helm was shortened in order to reduce the overall length. The result is a 27 X-Flight with nearly the same running surface as the 29, and an interior passenger cockpit that hasn’t been compromised on space. I’m very confident that the new 27 X-Flight is an out
